In his homily, Bishop Zziwa appealed to parents to take greater responsibility in raising children with strong moral and religious values, saying this remains one of the most effective ways of promoting peace and reducing violence in society.

"Families are the foundation of every peaceful nation. When children grow up with strong moral and spiritual values, they become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society," Bishop Zziwa said.

The Bishop also called on government to continue working closely with religious institutions, noting that faith-based organisations play a critical role in improving education, health services and social development.

Responding to criticism that religious leaders remain silent on national issues, Bishop Zziwa dismissed the claims, saying the Church continues to speak out whenever necessary.

"The Church has never abandoned its responsibility of speaking the truth. We continue to address issues affecting society, although our message is sometimes misunderstood or criticised," he said.

He further urged the public to respect religious leaders even when they disagree with their views, emphasising that constructive dialogue is essential for national development.

The anniversary celebrations attracted several government and Buganda Kingdom leaders. Among those present were Abdul Bisaso, Rebecca Atukunda and Joseph Kawuki.

Representing the Buganda Kingdom, Minister Kawuki encouraged residents to embrace the Kingdom's development agenda, particularly the "Ssitula Mutindo" campaign, which seeks to improve household welfare, education and community development.

"Development begins with individual responsibility. Communities should embrace programmes that improve livelihoods while preserving our cultural and moral values," Kawuki noted.

Speaking on behalf of the central government, Abdul Bisaso praised St. Matia Mulumba Kiganda Parish for its long-standing contribution to the development of Kassanda District, especially in expanding access to education and nurturing responsible citizens.

"For six decades, this parish has united people and transformed lives through education, faith and community service. Its contribution to the development of Kassanda cannot be overlooked," Bisaso said.

As St. Matia Mulumba Kiganda Parish celebrated its diamond jubilee, both religious and civic leaders agreed that the Church remains a vital partner in promoting moral leadership, education, peace and sustainable development across Kassanda District.

The celebrations also highlighted the enduring role of faith-based institutions in community transformation, with leaders urging continued investment in education, family values and social programmes that strengthen communities and foster national development.
